ISOLEUCINE

A crystalline amino acid C2H2CH(CH3)CH(NH2)COOH that is isomeric with leucine, that occurs in its dextrorotatory L form in most dietary proteins but is usually obtained from the waste in the recovery of sugar from beet molasses, and that like leucine is essential in the nutrition of animals and man.
